1. Air Bubbles:

  • During Application: If you notice air bubbles while applying the decal, use a squeegee to gently guide them towards the nearest edge, working from the center outward.
  • After Application: If bubbles appear after the decal has dried, use a needle or a sharp pin to poke tiny holes in the center of each bubble. Gently press out the air with your fingers or a squeegee.

2. Curling Edges:

  • Cause: Curling edges often result from improper cutting, tight door frames, or issues with the weatherstrip.
  • Solution:
    • Trimming: If the decal was not cut to size properly, you can trim the edges using a sharp Stanley knife to ensure the decal fits flush against the door.
    • Weatherstrip Issues: Check if the weatherstrip or door seal is too tight. If so, consider removing or adjusting the weatherstrip. If the weatherstrip is damaged, it may need to be replaced.
    • Frame Pressure: If the door frame is too tight, you may need to trim the decal along the edge where the door meets the frame to reduce pressure.

3. Adhesion Problems:

  • Grease or Dirt: If the decal is not sticking properly, it might be due to leftover grease, dirt, or adhesive on the door. Ensure the door is thoroughly cleaned before application.
  • Solution:
    • Clean the area with detergent, let it dry, and press the decal down again.
    • If necessary, use thin double-sided tape to reinforce areas where the decal is coming loose.

4. Damage from Door Hardware:

  • Scratches or Tears: If the decal is damaged by a door handle, weatherstrip, or other hardware, inspect the hardware for sharp edges or improper alignment.
  • Solution:
    • Repair any damaged hardware, tighten screws, and smooth out the decal with a squeegee.
    • In cases where the decal is severely damaged, you may need to patch the area with a new piece of decal or adjust the hardware position.

5. Handling Damage from Weatherstrips:

  • Bent or Loose Weatherstrips: If screws in the weatherstrip are not tight, they can damage the decal. Bent weatherstrips may also cause issues.
  • Solution: Tighten screws and bend the weatherstrip back into place. If the weatherstrip is pressing too tightly against the decal, cut the decal flush to the door frame to reduce pressure.

6. Peeling Due to Tight Door Frames:

  • Cause: If the door frame is too tight, it may cause the decal to peel at the edges.
  • Solution: Use a metal ruler and Stanley knife to trim the decal along the door frame. Ensure you keep steady pressure on the ruler to make a clean, straight cut.
